Majete Wildlife Reserve is the only official "Big 5" wildlife park in Malawi and is one of the biggest success stories in African conservation. If you are looking for big 5 African safaris, definitely give this one a try! A lot of hard work and development over the years has gone into the reserve and has turned this magical and special location into one of the best places to visit when in Malawi. The reserve is rich with wildlife, and, although includes the "Big 5" there is plenty else to see including Eland, Sable, Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest, Zebra and an impressive population of birdlife. The wildlife flourishes here and we can promise it will be a trip to remember.

Activities include mountain biking, tea tasting, coffee tour, birdwatching, and a picnic tour featuring the area's breathtaking scenery.

Day 4: Depart for Sunbird Kara O Mula - Mulanje

Mount Mulanje is a large monadnock in southern Malawi only 35 km east of Satemwa tea estate, rising sharply from the surrounding plains of Chiradzulu, and the tea-growing Mulanje district. It measures approximately 13×16 miles (22×26 kilometres) and has a maximum elevation of 3,002 m at its highest point, Sapitwa Peak. Much of the Massif consists of rolling grassland at elevations of 1800–2200 m, intersected by deep forested ravines. It has many individual peaks reaching heights of over 2500 m, including Chambe Peak, the West Face of which is the longest rock climb in Africa. The first European to report seeing the Massif was David Livingstone in 1859, but archeological investigation reveals evidence of human visits to the Massif from the Stone Age onwards. The elevation of the mountain is high enough for it to disturb upper level air flow and induce rain clouds to form around it, making it an important source of rain water at the head of almost every river that runs through this part of Malawi. When looking for Mount Mulanje tours, we offer one of the best!
